Public Exams Results

Isha Vidhya students once again make us proud!

Despite numerous challenges, the most critical being the lack of available teachers to offer senior classes in English, the students’ and teachers’ hard work paid off, and the students performed far beyond our expectations.

For the 4th year running, 10th Std. students achieved a 100% pass result in all 8 schools in Tamil Nadu.
All 185 students from 7 schools successfully passed the Plus One (11th Std) exams.

The first batch of 12th Std. students from 7 Isha Vidhya schools sat for Board exams in English medium this year. Many of our 10th Std. teachers stepped up to handle the senior school syllabus when we could not find teachers willing to teach in rural schools. The teachers, Principals and Vice Principals worked overtime to train themselves so that they could teach the students well, and our students gave their all to complete their schooling on a wonderful note.

This is a time of celebration for all associated with Isha Vidhya, the teachers and the students.

P.T Perumal Wins Bronze in Malaysian Archery Tournament

P.T. Perumal (8th Std.) of Isha Vidhya, Vanavasi, is a real success story! In early April, he won 3rd place in an archery tournament in the under-18 category (International Level), conducted by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.

The son of daily wage earners, Perumal turned his life around after joining Isha Vidhya and receiving sponsorship. From being a non-communicative child, he has transformed into an outgoing, focused sportsperson. He has won several state and national level competitions across the country.

Perumal aspires to become an NIS Coach in Archery like his coach Mr. Madhan.

We are grateful to Salem Collectorate for funding Perumal’s travel and accommodation expenses for the tournament.

Congratulations to Mumbai Supporters!

In early April, Tata Mumbai Marathon fund-raisers were felicitated at a Charity award night event. Isha Vidhya was the 3rd highest fundraiser, with INR 13,200,000 raised by over 200 participants.

Isha Vidhya volunteer, Mr. Sadashiv Rao, was one of the seven Change Icons, having raised INR 5,100,000.

Water Day at Erode School

K.G. children at Isha Vidhya Erode School celebrated Water Day. Concepts like light/heavy, floating/sinking were reinforced through games and activities during the day.

The highlight of the day was the pool hour in the makeshift pool made from dug out ground, lined with leveled rocks. The students excitedly entered the ‘pool’ where the teachers demonstrated floating/sinking concepts with help of plastic toys.

The pool time wouldn’t have been possible without sponsorship of two tanker loads of clean, potable water by Mr. Subramani. Thank you, Sir!

Summer Camp at Vanavasi School

The 6-day summer camp at Vanavasi School for KG students included “Phonemic awareness activities”, a sand activity, word hanging, paper clip activities with numbers, sight word matching and word fish catching. These activities were designed to augment brain development, enhance fine and gross motor skills, improve hand-eye coordination, and more.

The camp concluded with splash pool and water wall activities which helped the kids grasp and experience concepts like flowing, floating with heavy and light materials, and pressure. Kids had fun learning and playing during the camp.

Fundraising - Give India

Isha Vidhya participated in the Give India online fund-raising event to help meet the shortfall of 1500 students’ scholarships for academic year 2017 – 2018. Thanks to your overwhelming support, we were successful in meeting this need.

Isha Vidhya raised the maximum donations of all participating NGOs, and we also won several of the daily prizes. The total amount raised through donations was INR 2,372,245.68, and the amount collected from daily prizes and other matching schemes was INR 850,000!

The Bengaluru TCS world 10K Story

395 Runners, 27 Isha Brahmachari & IYC Resident participants, and 128 Supporters.

As always, the 10k run was a memorable event with perfect Bengaluru weather. The mood was set 2 months ago with meetings across the city to prepare for the run and exchange ideas to optimize fund-raising possibilities.

Sounds of Isha stole the show and the hearts of the runners with their multi-lingual performance, drawing crowds even after the run. The event was rounded off in typical Isha Vidhya style with a delicious homemade breakfast prepared by numerous volunteers.

Volunteering - Visual Aid Chart Making

Supporters have been contributing towards better education at Isha Vidhya and its Government School Support Program (GSSP) by making visual aid charts that supplement classroom learning.

Employees of D&B Chennai and Delhi volunteered in the month of April to craft hundreds of charts and other learning materials. We also organized several chartmaking events across Chennai, Bengaluru and Delhi where volunteers, young and old, worked together. Kids decorated the margins while elders drew and wrote content on the charts. At many places, volunteers brought homemade snacks which made the event still more joyous.

To conduct such a volunteering event in your city, with 25 -30 participating volunteers, please contact Prabhu +919489045045 / prabhu.loganathan@ishavidhya.org Unsubscribe
